Get Your Native Son On-Line

February 17, 2017 By sabum9

We continue to add to our list of Native Sons who receive this newspaper via e-mail. The e-mail edition is put on line as soon as the paper is sent to the printer. Mail copies reach our members up to a month later! An added feature of the on-line copies: full-color photos!

Our goal is to eliminate snail mail copies to those who wish to receive their paper by e-mail. That will result in a savings to our per capita tax of about $3 for each person who switches to e-mail. Unfortunately, we are still unable to delete e-mail users from our membership database, which means e-mail recipients will—for the time being—still receive a snail mail copy. We hope that will change soon so we can realize the substantial savings.

For the present, just get on the e-mail list, joining almost one thousand of your brothers who are already on that list. Send your e-mail to Fred Codoni at [email protected]. Be assured that our e-mail lists will be kept confidential and never used for other purposes.

Hydraulic #56 Host 2017 ’49er Days

January 13, 2017 By sabum9

The heart of the Gold Country is once again to be the setting for
the Annual ’49er Days Celebration March 3-5, 2017.

Throughout the weekend the Holiday Inn
will be the center of the activities.
Holiday Inn Express (Grass Valley)
121 Bank St, Grass Valley, CA 95945
(530) 477-1700

Friday, March 3:
Festivities begin with a hospitality room “Meet and Greet” in the Holiday Inn Express in downtown Grass Valley.

Saturday March 4th:
Starts with a complimentary hot breakfast bar. Then it’s off to see the local sites and attractions. For the Native Sons there is a Grand Officer initiation beginning at 10 a.m. in the Grass Valley Veterans Memorial Building auditorium.
For the ladies there will possibly be a historical tour or simply downtown Grass Valley touring. The downtown area is a short walking distance from the Holiday Inn.

Following the initiation there will be luncheon in the Veterans Building Dining Room with a fare of pasties and salad. The lounge will be open for no-host liquid refreshment (no doubt Early Times will be included).

At 2:30 there’ll be a Grand Officer dedication with a yet-to-be-determined site—but with the vast historical resources in western Nevada County finding one shouldn’t be a problem.

At 6:00 the bar opens in the lounge at the Veterans Memorial Building. Dinner will be served at 7:00 in the dining room with a menu featuring barbecued pork, chicken or a vegetable plate, oven roasted potatoes and Caesar salad.
During the evening there’ll be a raffle, entertainment and recognition of visiting dignitaries—not necessarily in that order.

Sunday March 5th;
“Get Away Day” will start at 8 a.m. with complementary beverages in Hydraulic Parlor’s hospitality room. World-famous gin fizzes will be in the mix.

For information about the weekend contact Brother Gary Miller at [email protected] or at (530) 477-1533.
